Endorsements enhance an application as they demonstrate a future teacher’s specific skill-set.
In addition to being certified, teachers must hold an endorsement in a teaching area approved by Washington state. There are more than 30 preschool to secondary school endorsements in Washington.
Candidates seeking an endorsement must provide verification that they completed a state-approved program in an endorsement area, as well as having completed related methods course work in specific endorsement area(s). Teachers may also specialize beyond the required certificate endorsements in unique competencies not found in regular endorsements, though these specialty areas cannot stand alone without regular endorsements.

“Washington has an ocean, desert, rivers, lakes, waterfalls, rainforest and all these amazing things. The people are like that too – the diversity is so great and awe-inspiring. Why would you want to teach anywhere else?”
