What makes this region great?
The broadleaf trees populate the parks as the terrain transitions from the Palouse to the Columbia River Gorge. You can spend the morning hiking in the Cascade foothills and the afternoon floating down the river. It’s all about lifestyle here, a small town area with big city virtues.
Tipsoo
Lace up the hiking boots and enjoy one of Washington’s most scenic hiking trails, the Naches Peak Trail. The hike follows the Pacific Crest Trail and begins at Tipsoo Lake.
18 Holes
It will be hard to choose among the many golf courses in the area. Regardless of what course you choose, you will be sure to experience great conditions and picturesque views. The temperate weather allows golfers to swing the links from May to well into October.
Farmer’s Markets
It doesn’t come more “farm to table” than visiting one of the many area farms. Year around, residents can expect the best produce – apples, peaches, and cherries – or even select their own produce, at many of the “U-Pick” farms.
Camping
Central Washington is a camping mecca in Washington state, be it an RV, car campaign, tents or even a yurt. The warm weather and scenic landscape in the region is a hot spot for campfires and s’mores.
Ellensburg Rodeo
The horses kick up their hooves about two hours east of Seattle during the Ellensburg Rodeo, one of several roundups (Moses Lake, Omak) in North Central Washington.
Ginkgo Petrified Forest
The Ginkgo State Park is home to an amazing display of Native American petroglyphs and fossils which date back more than thirteen to seventeen million years.
