You have experience in the field of education and have decided that becoming a teacher is your calling. You’ve already done a lot of the heavy lifting in both your professional and educational journey and the good news is there are several options for you.

Choose your pathway

There are three alternative routes to certification designed for current district employees. Each route allows candidates to continue working in their district while completing their teacher preparation program.

I have an associate degree

Alternative route 1 is designed for district employees with an associate degree who want to earn a teaching certificate with an endorsement in subject matter shortage area. This route takes about two years to complete.

I have a bachelor’s degree

Alternative route 2 is designed for district employees who hold a bachelor’s degree who want to earn a teaching certificate with an endorsement in subject matter shortage area. This route takes one to two years to complete.

You can also explore programs that offer traditional route options such as a post-baccalaureate certificate, or earning a master’s degree with a teaching certificate. 

I have a limited certificate

Alternative route 4 is designed for district employees with a bachelor’s degree who want to earn a residency certificate with an endorsement in subject matter shortage area. This route takes approximately one year to complete.
